World number four Stan Wawrinka hbecome the latest high-profile tennis player to withdraw from the up-coming Rio Olympics.

The 31-year-old aggravated a back injury during last week’s Rogers Cup in Toronto, Canada.

His withdrawal means five of the men’s top-10 players will not participate in the first Olympic games to be held in South America.

He joins world number six and eight Milos Raonic and Tomas Berdych who both cited the Zika virus for their pullouts – as well as Dominic Thiem and fellow Swiss Roger Federer on the Olympic no-go list.

With Federer and Wawrinka out, it’s a major blow to the Swiss team who had harboured hopes of a singles and doubles medal success.
