Colombia police have handed over an alleged Peruvian drug lord to the Peruvian authorities.

Gerson Galvez, known as Caracol or The Snail, and who has been described as Peru’s most wanted man, was deported on Sunday.

He is accused of running a powerful cocaine-trafficking gang in the Peruvian port of Callao.
His criminal group has also been linked to numerous murders in the area.

Galvez has protested his innocence.

The alleged drug trafficker who is thought to be Peru’s biggest exporter of cocaine, was arrested on Saturday in a restaurant in the Colombian city of Medellin.
It’s believed Police from Peru and Colombia worked closely together for the capture.

Both countries are the world’s main growers of coca leaves – the raw ingredient for cocaine.
