India’s spring celebration of colours – the Holi festival – is a time for powder to fill the air and for many to indulge.

It is celebrated throughout the country but nowhere more exuberantly than in Barsana in Uttar Pradesh, a northern town that is a pilgrimage destination for many Hindu faithful.
