Atletico scrape through on penalties against PSV

Extra time was needed, and then penalties to decide the outcome of the Atletico Madrid – PSV Eindhoven match, which the Spaniards won eight-seven.

In truth Atletico made things hard for themselves in the first leg, when they should have scored three but were wasteful in front of goal. PSV gave their all in Madrid, but could not score, and a Diego Simeone side prioritises defence. Luckily both teams looked to have practiced their penalties.
