Strong words were exchanged at the European Parliament during a debate on the EU-Turkey deal.

A Greek MEP landed himself in hot water for his remarks, that the parliament’s speaker considered offensive.

The far-right parliamentarian was then frog-marched out of the chamber.

“I’d like to quote the sentence that firstly I don’t think is acceptable et secondly I think must be sanctioned. The words by Mr Synadinos during the debate on the EU-Turkey summit. He expressed the following statement and I quote: “As it has been expressed inscientific literature, the Turks are dirty and poluted, the Turks are like wild dogs when they play, but when they have to fight against their enemies, they run away. The only way to deal with the Turk is with decisive and resolute attitudes.” That, ladies and gentlemen, is a sentence, which according to the Article 165 of the rules of procedure, represents a a breach of the values of the European union (applause). So as an immediate measure, and I say to you, ladies and gentlemen, this is a basic decision because there are more and more people here who try to cross red lines to make racism acceptable, and I said it before, I dont’ accept.”
