Defending cars champion Nasser Al-Attiyah won his second stage in this year’s Dakar Rally on Thursday.
The Qatari Mini driver won stage 11 from La Rioja to San Juan in Argentina.
Dakar newcomer and nine times world rally champion Sebastien Loeb was second on the day while Finland’s Mikko Hirvonen rounded out the podium.
11-times Dakar champion Stephane Peterhansel was fourth and retained his overall race lead just under 52 minutes clear of Al-Attiyah.
In the bikes category Antoine Meo steered his KTM to stage victory – his second this edition after triumphing in stage 7.
The Frenchman is now third in the general standings behind second placed Stefan Svitko of Slovakia and race leader Toby Price.
Australian Price controlled the stage well.
He crossed the line second on the day and in doing so increased his overall advantage over Svitko to 35 minutes and 23 seconds.
Pablo Quintanilla of Chile completed the stage 11 top three.
