Could one of the world’s most notorious drug kingpins be seen on the catwalks of Paris, New York or Milan?
Unlikely maybe, but it’s not as far-fetched as it first sounds.
For one US retailer is already trying to cash-in on the fashion choices of Mexican drug baron El Chapo, who was recaptured on Friday.
A Los Angeles-based store is selling the shirt Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman was apparently wearing in a recent interview, where he was responding to questions from US actor Sean Penn.
The shirts, which are being offered for sale at $128 (118 euros), are the same as the one worn by El Chapo on film, Sandra Mancia, a representative of the store told AFP.
The interview, published by Rolling Stone magazine, took place in October, three months before El Chapo’s recapture.
He escaped from prison for a second time in July via a tunnel that burrowed right up to his cell.
The US government wants Guzman on charges ranging from drug trafficking to money laundering, and kidnapping to murder. He is blamed for thousands of deaths in Mexico and the US, from addiction to gang warfare.
