Four public holidays have been reintroduced in Portugal, two years after they were axed in an austerity drive.
The new Socialist government obtained parliament’s approval for the move. It sees the country return to 13 public holidays a year, compared to an average of 10.8 days across the European Union, according to the 28-member body.
