While much of Europe is contending with milder-than-usual temperatures for the time of year, one eastern-Russian town has had to clear 20,000 cubic metres of snow.
Local residents in Petrapavlovsk-Kamchatsky say the government is annually unprepared for the change in weather. However, local authorities claim the amount of snowfall this year was unprecedented, saying they were hit with a month and a half’s worth of snow in just 24 hours.
