Palestinians and Israeli police have clashed repeatedly around the mosque, situated in Temple Mount, a sacred area for both Muslims and Jews.

Palestinians fear a change in the status of the Al- Aqsa Mosque, which currently forbids Jews to pray in the compound.

As many as 200 Palestinians have been taken into custody since the latest stand off began.
