Gunmen have attacked a Pakistani Air Force base in Peshawar, according to the country’s military.

It is reported that between seven and 10 militants targeted a guard post and tried to force their way into the Badaber base.

A gun battle has been raging and some of the attackers were reported dead.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility from any militant groups.

The number of attacks in Pakistan has fallen dramatically this year. This, thanks to a military offensive against Taliban bases along the Afghan border and government efforts to tackle militancy.
