Indonesia is sending 10,000 troops to try and extinguish raging wildfires in southern Sumatra as thousands of people are falling ill from smoke inhalation.

Slash and burn forest clearance for pulp, paper, and palm oil companies creates the choking haze, and despite promising to take action against it, the government has until now failed to stop the practice.
