Iceland consolidated their place at the top of Group A of the Euro qualifiers as they beat Netherlands 1-0 in Amsterdam.

Gylfi Sigurdsson hit the mark for table topping Iceland dealing the Dutch a serious blow to their qualification hopes.

The Netherland’s are outside the direct qualification spots in third behind the Czech Republic who beat Kazakhstan. Elswhere Turkey Latvia drew one all.

Belgium got their campaign back on track with a 3-1 win over Boznia in Group B.

Marouane Fellaini, Kevin de Bruyne and Eden Hazard all scored to keep their side on the heels of unbeaten group leaders Wales who edged out Cyprus 1-0 courtesy of a late Gareth Bale header.

Third-placed Israel, meanwhile, thumped minnows Andorra 4-0.

Italy took 69 minutes to break down a stubborn Malta side before Graziano Pelle struck to hand his side a one nil victory.

It took Italy top of Group H after former leaders Croatia could only draw 0-0 with Azerbaijan.

Norway edged to within one point of the Croats in second following a 1-0 win in Bulgaria.
