The United States, the UK and China called for the unconditional surrender of the Japanese armed forces or face “prompt and utter destruction.”

Japan’s refusal to accept Allied demands led the US to drop an atomic bomb (Little Boy) on the Japanese city of Hiroshima on August 6 1945.
