Brazil midfielder Fred tested positive for a banned substance during the June-July Copa America.

The 22-year-old Shakhtar Donetsk player, who faces a ban should a second sample confirm the reported findings of the first test, played in Brazil’s opening two fixtures in Chile but was dropped for the final group game against Venezuela.

Turkish side Fenerbahce have complained to UEFA after Shakhtar Donetsk played Fred against them in their Champions League qualifier on Tuesday.

UEFA’s control, ethics and disciplinary body will decide the outcome of the protest on Monday.
