Spain’s King Philipe has been awarded the “keys to Mexico City” during the Royal’s first state visit to a Latin American country.

The main aim of the trip is to promote economic ties between the two nations – Spanish investment in its former colony exceeds 49 billion dollars.

King Philipe and Queen Letizia were guests at a formal dinner after the ceremony.

There are currently more than 5,000 Spanish companies investing in Mexico.
