Germany’s Dimitrij Ovtcharov kept his composure to claim a thrilling men’s final against Vladimir Samsonov of Belarus at the European Games in Baku on Friday.
Ukraine’s Kou Lei completed the podium after beating Britain’s Paul Drinkhall while Russian pair Ilia Molchanov and Nikita Nikolaev proved too strong for their opponents in the men’s synchronised three metre springboard final.
Meanwhile Yana Kudryavtseva handed Russia another gold medal when she outclassed compatriot Margarita Mamun in the women’s gymnastics individual all-around final with Melitina Staiouta of Belarus having to settle for third place.
