Plants run by Israel’s biggest refining and petrochemicals group have been ordered closed by the mayor of Haifa after a report said increased cancer rates in the city could be linked to air pollution.
The stand taken by Mayor Yona Yahav is challenged by the ‘Oil Refineries’ group which disputes the findings of last week’s Health Ministry report.
