In Mali at least three civilians have been killed and nine United Nations peacekeepers seriously injured in a suicide attack. An official said the explosion happened in the town of Ansongo in the north of the country.

A Mali army spokesman said the suicide bomber tried to force his way into the camp but was shot. His vehicle then exploded.
