Wildfires in South Africa have now been brought under control after raging for five days.

The fires had cloaked Cape Town in smoke and damaged dozens of homes. Hundreds were forced to evacuate their homes but no fatalities have been reported.

The authorities continue to monitor the weather, as wind conditions will affect when the fires can be completely extinguished.

As firefighting efforts are scaled back, the cost of the wildfires is beginning to be counter.
