Topless activists threw themselves at the car carrying former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn as he arrived at court to testify over his alleged role in sex parties with prostitutes.

The feminist protesters, from the group FEMEN, wore slogans painted in black on their chests and torsos.

They tried to climb onto the vehicle as it arrived in Lille, before police pulled them away.

Allegations that Strauss-Kahn participated in a French sex ring emerged after criminal charges that he sexually assaulted a hotel chambermaid maid in New York were dropped in 2011.
