In a special session dedicated to last week’s violence, members of the French Parliament stood in silence for one minute on Tuesday (January 13).

Following a speech by Prime Minister Manuel Valls, lawmakers broke into a spontaneous rendition of the French national anthem – La Marseillaise – a first in the parliament’s history.
