South Australia’s Premier Jay Weatherill announced on Monday afternoon that the number of destroyed or badly damaged homes had increased to 26 in the bushfire area north-east of Adelaide. At least 700 firefighters are battling the Sampson Flat blaze which is moving in a southerly direction.
