Tourists from across China are descending on the city of Harbin for a special showcase of snow and ice sculptures.
The festival gets underway on Monday, January 5, and lasts for around a month, possibly longer if weather conditions permit.
Harbin, a city in China’s north eastern Heilongjiang province, was founded by Russians more than a century ago and has held the ice festival for over 30 years.
