The beautiful game showed off its ugly side on Monday when fans clashed with police following a Mexican Championship match.

Clashes broke out between Atlas hooligans and police at the Jalisco stadium in Guadalajara city following their side’s quarter-final exit at the hands of Monterrey.

According to witnesses Atlas fans initially attacked their Monterrey counterparts at the final whistle with the clashes then spilling outside the stadium.

Twenty police officers were reportedly injured during the violent scuffles.
