SFR looks set for Numericable merger

Is French media and telecoms conglomerate Vivendi going to merge its mobile phone operator SFR with cable company Numericable? The rumour boosted Vivendi’s share price on Monday in Paris. It was up 2.7 per cent at the close, the second biggest winner on the Cac40. SFR has a current market value of 15 billion euros. Numericable is three to five times smaller.
