The Portuguese artist has died aged 69, following a long illness.
Luís Represas died on Wednesday. The artist’s death was confirmed by the agency Sons em Trânsito, in a statement quoted by RTP. (source in Portuguese)

The singer is understood to have died after a long illness. According to the statement, the Portuguese artist, who was marking 50 years of his career this year, had planned “unforgettable moments with Trovante and, on his own, with hits that span generations”.
The news was also reported by Rádio Renascença, which quoted the singer’s agent.
A photograph, in what appears to be a farewell, was posted moments ago on the Portuguese artist’s Instagram page.
Luís Represas began as the lead singer of Trovante in 1976, with hits such as “Perdidamente”, “Saudade” and “125 Azul”.
Beyond his artistic career, he was also prominent in the struggle for the Timorese cause and was awarded the Medal of the “Order of Timor-Leste” by President Taur Matan Ruak.
In 2005 he received the Order of Merit - rank of Commander, awarded on 10 June 2005 by the then President of the Republic, Jorge Sampaio.
