The new James Bond bosses are reportedly eyeing up Oasis to record the theme song for the next 007 film.

"It's a piss-take that the greatest British agent of all time has to be soundtracked by a bunch of f*cking Americans," Noel Gallagher grumbled to NME in 2008, referring to the Quantum of Solace theme, ‘Another Way To Die’ by Alicia Keys and Jack White.

"I've written a couple of Bond theme tunes,” he added. “They haven't got very Bond-esque titles, so I would have to tailor the title accordingly."

Well, 17 years later, Oasis’ co-founder may finally get a shot at the title.

According to British tabloid The Sun, Oasis is Amazon MGM’s top pick for the next James Bond theme song.

A source told the outlet: "The 007 films are one of the great British franchises. And who better to record the theme song than one of the greatest ever British bands? Liam's swagger and Noel's anthemic music would be perfect to soundtrack the new film."

While we’re not 100 per cent sold on the idea, fearing that Liam’s distinctive pronunciation of the word “shiiiiiiine” would make an unwelcome appearance, and would rather someone like Dua Lipa or Annahstasia have a go for the Bond 26 theme song, it makes sense that the Gallaghers are being considered for the top job considering the success of their 2025 comeback.

Indeed, while no official announcement has been made, the news – if confirmed - would be another sizeable win for the Britpop band, which reunited earlier this year for a sell-out tour following 16 years of bitter rivalry.

The upcoming Bond film is currently in development, and will be directed by Denis Villeneuve and written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight.

Knight told BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast: "It has always been on my bucket list and it's fantastic to be invited to do it - I can't wait to get started.”

He added: "I'm hoping that, being a Bond fan for so many years, it will be imbued into me and I will be able to produce something that's the same but different, and better, stronger and bolder."

The release date for Bond 26 has not yet been announced - production is expected to kick off in 2027, which would mean that Bond fans will have to wait until 2028. Nor has the name of the actor who will don the tuxedo after Daniel Craig’s tenure.

It was reported in September that Amazon are looking fora “fresh face” as the new 007, and there have been rumours surrounding Callum Turner, Scott Rose-Marsh and Aaron Taylor-Johnson as potential candidates.

Bond 26 will be the first 007 movie since Amazon gained full control of the franchise.
