Pope Leo XIV celebrated Mass in Lourdes on Sunday, drawing thousands of worshippers to the famous Catholic pilgrimage site in southwestern France.

The sanctuary has long welcomed pilgrims, particularly those who are sick or seeking healing. For those attending the Mass, the Pope’s presence made the occasion especially meaningful.
“It was very emotional; we were deeply moved,” said Isabelle Bourgogne, a worshipper from Pézenas.
Jason Bort, from Aniane, said the Pope’s visit gave people who may not have the means to travel a chance to meet him. “It’s something extraordinary,” he said.
Pope Leo is on a four-day visit to France, his first official trip to the country since becoming Pope.
