French President Emmanuel Macron has called on Europe to resist what he described as a “return of nationalisms” and to rediscover the courage of its founding fathers.

Speaking in Metz during Pope Leo XIV’s visit to France, Macron said Europe should remain a force for peace, independence and democracy.
He also warned against Europe turning inward and hatred of others, urging Europeans to defend a united and democratic Europe. The meeting focused on European integration and peace.
