Amsterdam’s Museumplein distributed 200,000 free tulips to celebrate Dutch National Tulip Day, marking the start of the international cut tulip season.

Amsterdam’s Museumplein burst into color as thousands of tulips filled the iconic square, turning the green lawn into a vibrant patchwork of reds, yellows and pinks.

The display, organized to celebrate spring and the Netherlands’ long association with the flower, was open to the public — with visitors invited to pick tulips for free.

This year's slogan, 'Unite with bloom", promotes unity among all people and visitors, said Arjan Smit, chairman for the Tulip Promotion Netherlands foundation.
