German government examining Russia's decree on rouble payments

BERLIN – The German government is examining Russian President Vladimir Putin’s decree on selling gas for roubles, a government spokesperson said on Friday.

An economy ministry spokesperson added that it was clear private contracts were valid and that Germany was paying in euros for Russian gas.

As of yesterday, gas supplies were stable, the ministry spokesperson added.
