BISHKEK (Reuters) - Kyrgyz police stormed the house of former president Almazbek Atambayev on Wednesday, Kyrgyz news websites Akipress and 24.kg reported, citing eyewitnesses.

Both outlets said armed police were seen entering the house, located in a village near the capital Bishkek, while a helicopter flew over it. They also cited witnesses who said they had heard gunshots and seen wounded people leaving the house.

The Kyrgyz parliament stripped Atambayev of immunity in June, accusing him of corruption, and police have repeatedly asked him to come in for questioning, which he has refused to do.
