Time to take a look at some of the best European releases of recent weeks.

‘Stefan Zweig: Farewell to Europe’ directed by Maria Schrader’s charts the years of exile in the life of the famous Austrian writer who fled the rise of Hitler’s Nazis, but exile in Brazil brought him no solace. On February 23, 1942, Zweig and his second wife Lotte Altman were found dead of a barbiturate overdose in their house in the city of Petrópolis, hand in hand.

Europe’s descent into fascism and authoritarianism saddened him deeply.
Stefan Zweig: Farewell to Europe is out in France in August. ‘John From’ is by Portuguese filmmaker João Nicolau. A bored adolescent Rita acknowledges her sexual stirrings and falls for her photographer neighbour.
What begins as youthful exploration develops into an all consuming lust where Rita can no longer distinguish reality from fantasy.
