The Academy in Azerbaijan
Euronews Academy is an educational program aimed at enhancing professional skills in the field of journalism and media.
The program consists of “Digital Journalism” course for media practitioners and “TV and Live Journalism” course for young journalists, final-year students specializing in journalism and communications, as well as other students interested in the media sector the opportunity to participate free of charge.
Trainings are conducted in Baku. Participation in the program is free of charge. The courses are to be held in November 2025.

About the course trainers
Bojan Brkic – Astana Bureau Chief, Euronews
Accomplished journalist and media leader with extensive experience in the broadcasting industry. Since January 2025, he has been serving as the Euronews Astana Bureau Chief, overseeing operations in Kazakhstan. Prior to this, he was the Editor-In-Chief of Euronews Serbia, where he played a pivotal role in launching the news channel, selecting a team, designing workflows, and successfully putting it on air in June 2021. From 2004, he held various leadership roles at Radio-Television of Serbia.
Sergio Cantone – Senior EU Correspondent, Euronews
Experienced media professional with a demonstrated history of working in the broadcast media industry. Skilled in Field Production, Translation, Breaking News, Radio, and Media Relations. Strong media and communication professional with a Master of Arts (M.A.) focused in Political Science from Université Libre de Bruxelles.
Tuba Altunkaya – Multimedia Journalist, Euronews
Tuba Altunkaya has over 13 years of international experience, specializing in creating meaningful content across various platforms. Has worked as an editor of the day, multimedia journalist, and social media manager for Turkish and English desks. Skilled in live broadcasting, video editing, data-driven storytelling, and original content creation. Projects include breaking news coverage, analytical pieces, and visual storytelling.
Theologos (Akis) Tatsis – Head of Euronews Greek Service, Bureau Chief at Euronews Tashkent
Akis Tatsis is an experienced broadcast journalist and media executive, currently leading Euronews Greek Service as its Head since February 2022, and as Bureau Chief of Euronews Tashkent since June 2025. He has fronted coverage in areas including European affairs, elections all over Europe, geopolitical developments, human-interest and migration reporting, economic crises and recovery stories, and cultural stories.
Candidate Requirements for the Digital Journalism Course
1 Media practitioners actively working in the field of journalism, media, or related areas.
2. A good level of English (equivalent to B1).
3. Advanced knowledge in media and journalism, demonstrated through academic projects, publications, or extracurricular activities.
4. Good knowledge in media and journalism.
5. Strong motivation for professional growth and international mindset.
Candidate Requirements for the TV&Live Journalism Course
1. A. Final-year undergraduate and master’s students specializing in journalism and communications, as well as other students interested in the media sector;
B. Young journalists with 1-3 years of experience
2. Good academic records (above 75 overall grade point average (UOMG) or its equivalent). Students must provide an unofficial transcript or a screenshot from the student’s online portal clearly showing UOMG. The organizers reserve the right to request an official transcript from candidates.
3. A good level of English (equivalent to B1).
4. Good knowledge in media and journalism.
5. Strong motivation for professional growth and international mindset.
Contents of the application
Contents of the application for the Digital Journalism Course
1. A comprehensive CV in English, detailing both educational background and professional experience (Including links to articles, publications, journalistic works, reports, and video reports is considered an advantage).
2. A motivational video in English (up to 2 minutes) covering points 4-5 of Section “Candidate Requirements” and explaining why the candidate wants to participate in the program and how the course aligns with their future career goals. Please pay attention to: clarity of goals, alignment with the program, originality and sincerity, structure and logical flow, awareness of profession, personal qualities and motivation.
3. A letter from the workplace (with the signature and official seal of the head of the media entity) confirming that the applicant is employed at that organization.
4. A scan of national ID.
5. A signed recommendation letter in English from the applicant’s supervisor, editor, or head of the media entity is considered an advantage.
Contents of the application for the TV&Live Journalism Course
1. A comprehensive CV in Azerbaijani or English, detailing both educational background and professional experience.
2. A motivational video in Azerbaijani or English (up to 2 minutes) covering points 4-5 of Section “Candidate Requirements” and explaining why the candidate wants to participate in the program and how the course aligns with future career goals. Please pay attention to: clarity of goals, alignment with the program, originality and sincerity, structure and logical flow, awareness of profession, personal qualities and motivation.
3. A copy of the student ID.

When submitting, please indicate in the application form which course you are applying for and your full name in English.
Selection Process
Selection Process of the Digital Journalism Course
Applications should be sent from October 24 to November 3, 6.00 PM (Baku time). Applications received after the specified deadline will not be reviewed. The selection will be based on evaluation of submitted documents. Applicants will be assessed against the candidate requirements detailed in Section II “Candidate Requirements” of the guidelines. Successful applicants will be notified via email by November 13.
Selection Process f the TV&Live Journalism Course
Applications should be sent from October 20 to October 29, 6.00 PM (Baku time). Applications received after the specified deadline will not be reviewed. The selection will be based on evaluation of submitted documents. Applicants will be assessed against the candidate requirements detailed in Section “Candidate Requirements” of the guidelines. Successful applicants will be notified by email by November 7.
Certificate Conditions
A certificate is awarded to participants who successfully complete the course. To receive a certificate, participants must:
- Attend 100% of all course modules.
- Actively participate in practical exercises, discussions, and group activities.
- Complete all required assignments.
- Complete final projects.
Additional Conditions
- Course modules are conducted in English.
- Euronews Academy will try to adhere to the announced dates, however it is possible that force majeure events require changes in the schedule. Participants will be informed in the earliest possible time.
- All expenses related to travel, accommodation, and daily needs are the responsibility of the participants.

Jurnalistika və media sahəsində peşəkar bacarıqları inkişaf etdirməyə yönələn proqramın ilk modulu olan və 23-27 iyun tarixlərində keçiriləcək “Rəqəmsal Jurnalistika” təlimində gənc jurnalistl ər, jurnalistika və kommunikasiya ixtisası üzrə təhsil alan, həmçinin media sahəsinə marağı olan sonuncu kurs bakalavr və magistratura pilləsi tələbələri ödənişsiz şəkildə iştirak edə bilərlər.

Namizədlər üçün tələblər
- A. jurnalistika və kommunikasiya ixtisası üzrə təhsil alan, həmçinin media sahəsinə marağı olan sonuncu kurs bakalavr və magistratura pilləsi tələbələri
- B. 1-3 illik təcrübəyə malik gənc jurnalistlər
- Yüksək akademik göstəricilər (Ümumi orta müvəffəqiyyət göstəricisinin (ÜOMG) 75 baldan yuxarı olması və ya ekvivalenti). Tələbələr qeyri-rəsmi transkript və ya ÜOMG-nin aydın göründüyü portalın ekran görüntüsü təqdim etməlidirlər. Zərurət yaranarsa, təşkilatçılar rəsmi transkript tələb edə bilər.
- İngilis dili üzrə təməl (basic) biliklər
- Akademik layihələr, nəşrlər və ya əlavə fəaliyyətlər vasitəsilə jurnalistika və media sahəsində mövcud bilik və təcrübə
- Peşəkar inkişaf və yaradıcılıq ilə bağlı güclü motivasiya.
Müraciət üçün lazım olan sənədlər
- Təhsil və iş təcrübəsini (əgər varsa) əhatə edən Azərbaycan və ya İngilis dilində ətraflı CV.
- Azərbaycan və ya İngilis dilində motivasiya videosu (3 dəqiqəyə qədər). Videoda yuxarıdakı 4 və 5-ci bəndlərə toxunulmalı, namizədin bu proqramda niyə iştirak etmək istədiyi və kursun gələcək karyera planları ilə necə əlaqəli olduğu izah olunmalıdır. Diqqət edilməli məqamlar: məqsədlərin aydınlığı, proqramla uyğunluq, orijinallıq və səmimilik, struktur və məntiqi ardıcıllıq, peşəyə dair məlumatlılıq, şəxsi keyfiyyətlər və motivasiya.
- Tələbə biletinin surəti.
- Azərbaycan və ya İngilis dilində müəllim tərəfindən imzalanmış tövsiyə məktubu üstünlükdür.
Seçim prosesi
Bütün kurslar üzrə seçim prosesi birlikdə həyata keçirilir. Sənədlər 30 may – 12 iyun tarixləri ərzində saat 18:00-dək (Bakı vaxtı) təqdim edilməlidir. Son tarixdən sonra daxil olan sənədlər nəzərdən keçirilməyəcək.
Seçim prosesi təqdim olunmuş sənədlərin qiymətləndirilməsi əsasında aparılacaq. Namizədlər “Namizədlər üçün tələblər” bölməsindəki meyarlara əsasən dəyərləndiriləcək.
Seçim nəticələri 20 iyun tarixinədək e-poçt vasitəsilə namizədlərə bildiriləcək.
Təlimin 23-27 iyun tarixlərində keçiriləcəyi nəzərə alınaraq, bu tarixlərdə proqramda iştirak edə biləcək şəxslərin müraciət etməsi tələb olunur.
