Men’s Spring Summer 2018 has not disappointed so far. Being one of the world’s capitals of style, great things are always expected from Milan in particular. As the well-dressed city dwellers begin to prepare for Paris and equally scorching temperatures, we bring you the top menswear trends from this season in Milan.

Shoes

The shoes this season have made a return to classic Italian styling. Ferragamo’s SS18 offering were made from leather and suede and transported guests to Italian summers and lounging near the coast. Santoni’s selection also returned to the Italian way, serving their shoes on silver platters in a typical Milanese café. The Santoni shoes followed a similar vein – comfort came first, with the suppleness of the leather being key to the design.

Tailoring

As always in Milan, this season played host to a stylish and heat-suitable range of tailoring. Not just seen on the catwalks, as per Prada, but on the street style stars. Traditional Italian tailoring was layered carefully, in a range of neutral colours, to create bold looks for the streets. Continuing from the past few seasons, luxury tailoring was also combined with ‘athleisure’ pieces, as seen at Ermenegildo Zegna, for a relaxed, summery look.

Millennials

Dolce & Gabbana has continued its theme of democratizing fashion for SS18. As well as hosting a ‘secret show’ comprised of sharp suiting the evening before its main show took place, it used a selection of internet famous millennials for models. Saying that they wanted to address issues of love in the young generation, the vibrant brand used reds and oranges as primary colours, not only in their clothes, but also in their show location. Dolce & Gabbana have never been a brand to voice their feelings quietly, and this season was no different.
