BERLIN (Reuters) - Pilots in Germany have reached a wage agreement with Ryanair <RYA.I> for the first time, union VC said on Wednesday, as the budget carrier is in tense discussions with unions throughout Europe.
Under the deal, pilots will be paid more and will benefit from better protection in case of layoffs, the union said, adding that the parties had agreed on future talks which would include the possible creation of a works council.
"The collective agreements make clear that German law applies to employment relationships," VC said in a statement.
Ryanair was not immediately available for comment.
Earlier this month, Ryanair members of the British Airline Pilots Association announced a further seven days of strikes starting on Sept. 18. Pilots in Spain had also announced walkouts.
