ST PETERSBURG (Reuters) - U.S. pressure on Denmark is the main reason for delays on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline being built to Europe, the pipeline project's chairman Gerhard Schroeder said on Friday.

The former German chancellor said that U.S. gas was more expensive than Russian gas and would be a bad choice for Europe. He said upcoming elections in Denmark were giving hope the Nord Stream 2 pipeline would be finished on time.
