Allianz first quarter net profit edges up in line with expectations

FRANKFURT (Reuters) - German insurer Allianz posted on Tuesday a small rise in net profit in the first quarter from a year earlier, in line with expectations.

Net profit attributable to shareholders of 1.969 billion euros (1.71 billion pounds) compares with the 1.908 billion euro profit forecast by analysts in a Reuters poll and is up from 1.939 billion euros a year ago.
