BERLIN (Reuters) - Net profit of Germany's state-owned railway company decreased by one third in 2018 to 540 million euros (461.81 million pounds), people familiar with Deutsche Bahn's results said on Tuesday.

Operating profit came in slightly below previous year's at 2.11 billion euros, the people said, adding that the company was able to meet its targets, which it had lowered several times.

A spokeswoman for Deutsche Bahn declined to comment, pointing to a news conference scheduled for March 28.
