ROME (Reuters) - The state-appointed commissioners running Alitalia have accepted a binding purchase offer for the national carrier by the Ferrovie dello Stato (Fs) state railway company, a source close to the matter said on Tuesday.
Italy's flagship airline was put under special administration last year after workers rejected its latest rescue plan, leaving the government once again seeking a buyer to save the ailing company.
The commissioners accepted the offer from Fs after consultation with the industry ministry, the source said.
