The Spanish championship leader is 21 points clear at the top of table and will have to finish inside the top 12 to secure victory.

Marc Marquez will hope to make his home advantage count on Sunday as Moto GP makes its final stop of the season in Valencia.

The Spaniard is hungry for his fourth world title and said he would give everything to hold of Andrea Dovizioso, whose win at a rainy Malaysian Grand Prix kept the title race alive.

However, the Italian’s win is only likely to stall Marquez’s triumph, as the Honda-riding championship leader will have to finish outside the top 12 for Dovizioso to have a chance of spoiling the party.

Marquez said: “We will see the level of Andrea and the other riders, and of course to trying to finish the race will be the most important thing.”

Marquez’s fourth place finish at the Malaysian Sepang International Circuit in October delayed his coronation, although he maintains a healthy 21-point lead over his Italian rival going into Sunday’s race.

Dovizioso said: “We know about the points, it will be very difficult with Marc here but you never know. Fortunately, anything can happen, we have to focus on our side and try to win the race.”

While 31-year-old Dovizioso is not ruling out his chance of a maiden title, with only 25 points up for grabs in Spain, Marquez should wrap it up if his bike stays on two wheels.
