Euronews airs exclusive documentary about life in Kabul under Taliban rule

    Lyon, France, 3 November 2021 – Euronews, Europe’s leading international news media, will air tomorrow at 21:00 CET ‘Euronews Witness: The Return of the Taliban’, an exclusive 52-minute documentary capturing the Taliban’s return to power after 20 years of US presence in Afghanistan.

     

    The documentary follows Anelise Borges, Euronews International Affairs Correspondent, as she reports from inside Taliban-ruled Afghanistan over the course of two weeks. The reporter travels the streets of Kabul in the aftermath of the chaotic Western withdrawal, witnessing the fears and anxieties that took over the local population with the return of the Taliban but also the nascent feeling of resistance of ordinary Afghan citizens, particularly women, against their new rulers.

     

    The documentary features unprecedented access, including intimate encounters with at-risk Afghan citizens who agreed to open their homes to Anelise, as well as riveting interviews with members of the Taliban administration, all told through unique and exclusive footage.
