FRANKFURT – RWE, Germany’s largest power producer, has not applied for a loan from state lender KfW to increase its liquidity headroom to tackle higher power prices, it said on Monday in an emailed response to questions.
A source close to the finance ministry had told Reuters on Sunday that an unnamed German energy firm had applied for a 5.5 billion euro ($6.02 billion) loan to cover margin payments tied to energy sales hedges.
