MILAN - Leonardo will deliver two Eurofighter jets to Kuwait around mid-March in a sign that a multi-billion contract between the Italian group and the country is progressing according to plans, two sources with knowledge of the matter told Reuters.
The two military aircraft are part of a jumbo order for the production of 28 jets worth around 8 billion euros ($9 billion)in total that the group clinched with Kuwait in 2016.
"The second delivery is scheduled for mid-March," one of the sources said.
After the delivery of the first two jets last year, Kuwait referred two senior army officers to the public prosecutor over suspected corruption related to the contract in January.
At that time Leonardo said it was not the subject of a judicial investigation into the Kuwait Eurofighter programme.
