BERLIN - Germany's Federal Network Agency said on Friday it had launched a tender for offshore wind turbines in an area in the North Sea in a further step towards achieving the country's offshore expansion targets by 2030.
The turbines in the tendered area with a potential of 980 MW are scheduled to go into operation in 2027, the agency said in a statement.
Germany aims for renewables to account for 80% of the country's gross electricity demand by 2030 by installing at least 30 GW of offshore wind capacity by then, compared with 7.7 GW now.
