LONDON - Five small British energy suppliers must pay a total of 7 million pounds ($9.5 million) towards its renewable scheme or face losing their licenses, regulator Ofgem said on Friday.

Ampoweruk, Whoop Energy, Goto Energy, Home Energy Trading and Colorado Energy have all already missed an initial Aug. 31/Sept. 1 deadline, Ofgem said.

A final order to pay could be sent by Oct. 31, Ofgem said.

"If they do not pay, Ofgem could start the process of revoking their licences to supply energy," Ofgem said.
