BELFAST – The leader of Northern Ireland’s Democratic Unionist Party on Wednesday hailed fresh UK British demands for an overhaul of Britain’s European Union exit deal as a “significant first step” that must be followed by a “proper renegotiation.”

“This is a significant step in the right direction by the Government and an acceptance that the (Northern Ireland) Protocol is not sustainable,” DUP leader Jeffrey Donaldson said in a statement after Brexit minister David Frost made demands for an overhaul in parliament.
