TOKYO (Reuters) - Japan's consumer confidence deteriorated in April, the government said on Friday, as a resurgence of coronavirus cases, which led to a third state of emergency for Tokyo and other areas, weighed.
A Cabinet Office survey showed the sentiment index for general households, which includes views on incomes and jobs, was at 34.7 in April, compared with 36.1 in March.
The government stuck to its view on the sentiment index, saying it remained severe but was showing signs of picking up.
