Savusavu, Vanua Levu, Fiji
The Jean-Michel Cousteau Resort

Fiji, in the South Pacific, is formed of approximately 333 islands and Vanua Levu is the second largest. Named after ocean explorer and environmentalist Jean-Michel Cousteau, the resort is dedicated to the preservation of the environment, both natural and social.

The resort runs the Giant Clam Project, a program dedicated to restocking and repopulating the coral reef dwellers, partners with the Savusavu Community Foundation focusing on health, medical and education for the local population. The establishment also works to protect the Namena Marine Reserve, participates in a mangrove reforestation program, and built Fiji’s first-ever water reclamation plant.

Itacaré, Serra Grande, Brazil
Txai Itacaré Resort & Spa

The resort is built on an ancient coconut and cacao farm, an estate of 92 hectares located in the Environmental Protection Area of Itacaré – Serra Grande. The 38 suites and bungalows are made with raw material from the region such as piassava (dried palm), bamboo and dende palm trees.

The Shamash spa offers a selection of practices and treatments taken from ancient cultures and enhanced with a fusion of spices from Bahia. The 2 hours ‘purifying ritual’ starts with a bath, followed by a Reiki session, which is a hands-on energy healing where the practitioner serves as a channel to harmonize the vital energy. This ritual finishes with Shirodhara, treatment that involves gently pouring a fine and continuous oil liquid over the forehead, between the eyebrows as a mean to clean and renew the physical and mental energy.

Kuredhivaru Island in Noonu Atoll, Maldives
Mӧvenpick Resort & Spa Kuredhivaru

Swiss hotel company Mӧvenpick has signed a contract to manage its first Maldives resort. Situated on the remote 550-meters long Kuredhivaru Island in Noonu Atoll, Mӧvenpick Resort & Spa Kuredhivaru will be the brand’s first resort in the Maldives when it opens during the first quarter of 2018. The planned 102-unit resort will provide guests with a choice of 32 beach villas and 70 over water villas.

The first Marine National Park in the Maldives which consists of a group of nine uninhabited islands commonly known as Edu Faru is located a 15-minute speedboat ride away, to offer diving opportunities in popular Christmas Tree Rock and Orimas Thila sites. The recently discovered whale shark and manta point Manadhoo Beyru takes 20 minutes by speedboat. The resort will also feature a beach sports activity centre including a yoga pavilion, guest-only superyacht as well as a small scale marine research centre and private marina.

Paje Beach, Zanzibar
White Sands, Wildfitness retreat

The Wildfitness retreat experience is a series of physical activities run by a team of coaches and experts. In Zanzibar, one of the best kite surfing spots in the world, the retreat starts with a personal assessment to look at movement patterns and posture, and define goals for the course. It is followed by a “Sunset mobilisation” on the beach to loosen joints and discover lost body movement after which a supper under the stars is served. The menus based on “wild eating” principles includes local seafood and crunchy greens.

‘Awaken your faculties’ is Wildfitness open air dojo with sea views. This session works on enlivening perception of balance, responsiveness and co-ordination. Outside activities such as swimming along a reef channel or competitive games on the beach are also part of the program.
